And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him. – Hebrews 11:6 NIV
Many times we find ourselves at a crossroads when it comes to decision making. Which college should I go to? Should I switch jobs? Should we get married? Are we ready to have kids now? Should I start that business? Should I go on the missions trip? Essentially, we’re asking ourselves if a certain decision is worth the investment. We want to know if our thinking is wise.
We get in trouble, however, when we wait to make a move at the perfect moment. We hesitate, thinking that with a little more time we’ll have 100 percent certainty that this is absolutely the correct decision. The truth is we will never be absolutely sure about anything. If we were, we would not need God.
But God always leaves room for faith. Hebrews 11:6 tells us that it is “impossible to please God without faith.” Whatever decisions you make, do it in faith—faith that God has a plan for you, that he will protect you, that he has your best interest in mind. Deciding to have faith is the first and most important part of any decision.
Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for your faithfulness. Thank you that I can trust you in all things. As I make decisions, please guide me in your wisdom and strengthen me as I place my faith in you and not in myself or my circumstances. In Jesus Christ’s name, I pray. Amen.
What decisions can you trust God with today?
