Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see. – Hebrews 11:1 NIV
If you would have told me 8 years ago that I would be going through divorce and raising 3 kids on my own I would have never believed you. I had no idea at the time how I was going to make it through, but I believed that if God brought me to it, He would bring me through it.
This is the faith referred to in Hebrews 11:1. It is the type of belief in God that you stand on when you can’t see how you will overcome. If we could see our way through outcomes there would be no need for God and it would cease to be faith. That is because faith is what we cannot see but we hope for.
Had I kept my eyes on my circumstances, I would have never made it through. I saw something beyond my present circumstances and continued to press forward. As hard is it was then, and sometimes now, I can look back on the other side of through and see God helps us believe in Him when we cannot see a way out.
Dear Heavenly Father, I am grateful for your unconditional love towards me. I thank you for always providing, for always making a way when it seemed as if there was no way. Thank you for restoring the years in my life. In Jesus Name Amen!
Looking back over your life, how have you exercised faith in God during difficult circumstances?
