The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart, O God, you will not despise. – Psalm 51:17 ESV
How do you process the things that are broken in your life? I’ve learned that not everything that is broken needs to be thrown away. When something stops working it’s easy to try to get something new to replace it; however, new doesn’t always mean better.
It’s important not to quickly throw away something because it stops working before you find out why it stopped working in the first place. This will give us discernment to know if it’s worth saving at all. Whether it’s yourself, a relationship, or a dream, you’ll never discover how God can bring the broken pieces together to make something better if you throw it away in haste. I encourage you to trust God with the broken areas of your life and see how He can redeem them into something beautiful.
Dear Heavenly Father, I am grateful that You don’t throw me away as others may and that You still find good in me even when I may not see it in myself. Please help me to remember the reason why You sent Your Son to die for me: You thought I was worth saving. Thank you! In Jesus Christ Name, I pray. Amen.
