And without faith, it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him. – Hebrews 11:6 ESV
When my 10-year high school reunion came, my life did not match the picture of “success” I thought I’d have. Thankfully God’s Word has something to say about this: “no one can please God without faith. Whoever goes to God must believe that God exists and that he rewards those who seek him.”
This life is not all there is. To measure success accurately, we need to view it in light of eternity. In eternity it won’t matter what degrees we earned, how much money we made or where we lived. What will matter is did our life point to Christ? Did we display Him to others? Did we show the love of Christ in action and word?
If we want to have a successful life, as an act of faith, we can determine to seek God with our whole heart, believing He’ll respond and show us how to live. As we do, we’ll be guided by the kind of life that He wants us to have— a life that is eternally successful.
Father, thank You for Your Word that shows me how to live a life that is pleasing to You. Please help me to understand that the measurement of my success goes beyond what I can do or accomplish here on earth. I know true faith is accompanied by actions so please help my actions to be motivated by love for You and others. In Jesus’ Name, I pray. Amen.
What steps can you take to intentionally seek the type of success God desires?
