What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? – Romans 8:31 ESV
Sporting events, game shows, and reality TV singing competitions all have declared winners and losers. If I am honest, I enjoy the energy that comes from cheering for my favorite team or contestant. Despite the second or third place winner’s efforts, the primary celebration goes to the first place winner. When we feel like we have been defeated in life, God is always for us. Romans 8:31 reminds us that God is for us in triumph and tribulation. God treasures and celebrates our best efforts, even if the outcome doesn’t yield public praise.
God is for us when we master or make mistakes. God is for us when we gain applause or when we serve for an audience of one. At times, we may feel that others are against us or have turned their backs on us. During those moments, I encourage you to speak the words, God is for me. It’s amazing to know that we have God in our corner at all times and that we are winners in His sight.
Dear God, thank you for always being for me throughout all seasons of my life. During times of uncertainty or feelings of defeat, please help me to be encouraged by your unconditional love and presence. Thank you for celebrating me and believing in me. Please remind me that I am a winner in you every day In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
What is one area in your life that you can celebrate God being positively for you? Give God praise.
