For I do not understand my own actions. For I do not do what I want, but I do the very thing I hate. – Romans 7:15 ESV
You know the feeling and the guilt that comes afterward. You had hoped to do some meaningful work; you had it all planned out. You take a short break and get on with your work. Hours later, you wonder how you could have done the opposite.
Dear friend, I need you to know you’re not alone. It’s a real struggle but there is good news for us. God is willing and able to help us overcome and break the chains of self-sabotage. He is calling us to cast this burden on him rather than bear it alone.
Have you been crippled by a fear of never living the life you should because you think you will spoil it? Do you keep doing the wrong things at the right time with no time for the right?
I want to encourage you to stand firm on the one who holds our lives, the one who says “fear not, I will help you.” (Isaiah 41:13)
Lord God, I need your strength and the will to do the right thing. Help me not to use my hands to tear down the very things you have given me to nurture and grow. May I remain a good steward of all you have placed in and through me. In Jesus’ Name, I pray. Amen.
What area of your life can you trust God to help you do the right thing?
